As 2017 has closed and we gear up for 2018. I’m thinking about all the things that have happened in the past year and all the things that I’ve learned. Some of the life lessons I’ve taken away from 2017 are funny, some serious, but all things I’ve learned in past 12 months. I’m looking forward to what I’ll learn in 2018. I have a feeling it’ll be a whole lot more.
12 Lessons I’ve Learned in the past 12 Months
With weddings, there will always be some drama. Its true. You can’t please everyone and not everything will always go smoothly. If you’re getting married in 2018 be sure to always remember it’s your day and you’re marrying the man of your dreams, whatever happens, it’ll be worth it.
The day you find your wedding dress you will feel like the ultimate princess. There is something magical about trying on fancy white dresses that takes a girl back to the days of watching princess movies, and in the moment you put on your dress for the first time and look in the mirror, you will feel like the ultimate princess.
When you’re moving and you need people to help, just promise them pizza and beer. If you’ve got good friends, this will work every time!
Always take “me” time. Ah this is so important. I’m very much a yes person. I hate telling people no and I hate missing out on fun stuff but to be fully present and the best you in your life, I’ve learned that it means taking time for yourself. So so so important.
If it’s a dream, it’s worth chasing. I’ve been blogging for a year now. (Stay tuned for the Giveaway coming on Wednesday!) It’s been a dream of mine to have influence through my words on a creative platform. A Richards Life started out rough with little direction and less substance. Although today, I feel confident and I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store for my little corner of the internet blogging world.
Always check to make sure you turn the stove off after you finish cooking. I love to cook, although my attention to detail after I am finished cooking isn’t always the best. I just get so excited to serve the meal! Sean has had to turn off the burners one too many times for me. I’ve learned to always double check.
A good vacuum is worth the money. A vacuum is judged based on it’s suction and I have to say, a nice name brand vacuum has some good suction. If you’re anything like me it’s worth it especially if you love those vacuum line in your carpet !
Coffee will always get you through. Those nights that you stay up way too late watching the finale of your favorite show, well a cup of joe will get you through the work day, at least until you do it all over again for your second favorite show the following night.
Target has never failed me. Do you need to give a gift? Go to Target. Do you need to buy some wine? Target. Do you need of a new cute outfit for that date you have planned, I’ll bet you Target has exactly what you need.
True friends will always be there for you. No matter the choices you make, the places you move, the life changing events that take place. True friends will always be there and be supportive.
Gaining weight isn’t the end of the world. It could mean you’re just happy and whats so bad about that?
Life can change completely in just one year. If you’re not where you want to be, don’t be discouraged. This time next year you could be exactly where you want to be or exactly where you never could have dreamed of being.
